I have plenty of opinions, most of them negative - but only because it's not my kind of bike. To each his (or her) own. The total purchase price of my KLR and ZRX1200 (both bought new) didn't even add up to the price of the XB12. I know there are plenty of people who look at KLR riders and wonder what possessed them to get THAT bike. But *we* know.... mrodub wrote:

I read the test on it yesterday in Cycle World. Seems like a great, fun bike ......... but not a dual sport. 17 inch wheels, great for Supermotard but.... not for rocky fire roads. It was interesting that they did a comparison between the Ducati Multistrada, The Buell Ulysses, the R1200GS and called them dual sport. I call them sport. And they all all above $12 grand. Pleeeeaaase! No where did they include the similar V Stroms or Triumph Tiger's. They did talk about the KTM 950 Supermoto in another article I haven't read yet which is a simular bike. I guess you gotta be new and expensive to be in the club. And weigh around 500 pounds. Ah...... they just keep making the cheap, unglamerous KLR 650's and Dr 650's which to me are true dual sports. The others are great bikes but I would cry if I got them muddy or dropped them. Check out the article on Terry Poovy. Long time great flat track / short track ace. I have been watching him race from sometime in the early 70's (and his brother too till he got hurt). And the article on the Top Fuel bike that does the quarter in the high 5 second area (at 244 mph). WOW! Criswell

I saw one picture of it, and from things like price, and weight, it seems like the XB12X is just a standard motorcycle styled somewhat like a DP bike. The huge disc, and belt drive just give me more reasons to see it this way. Nothing wrong with a street bike that looks a little DP-ish. The cost, and brand name turn me off though. Actually the GS is incredibly droppable. A friend has an 1150GS that I've seen on its side numerous times, but you'd never know by looking at it. Heck, I even caused one of the crashes. Those big jugs are pretty strong. I wouldn't call it a dualsport, but it's a heck of an adventure bike and will go a lot more places than most folks give it credit for. I don't put the Buell or Tiger or V-Strom or Duck in the same class, but the KTM 950 Adventure sure is. I rode Titus Canyon in Death Valley with a guy on an 1150GS it was fun to watch him slide that big beast around those sandy washes. No doubt rider ability can overcome bike design but I need all the help I can get. I'll stick with my KLR. --Jim A-15

I'm selling a dished KLR seat. It's in excellent condition, save for maybe a boot scuff or two. Black vinyl top, carbon fiber weave pattern.
