tire debate

I have been reading the posts on tires and figured I would weigh in
on my opinion. I have been riding KLR's since 89 and have put all
kinds of rubber on them and seen different ones from different
places.
If you do a lot of off road and don't put in extended highway miles
the best for your buck are Cheng Shin.
The best road tires with traction and a little bit of off road if
you need it were Maxxis Traxxers. I bought them in Ecuador and they
had been brought over from Colombia. Talk about cornering in the
wet these things were the bomb.
The Don'tLofts (Dunlops) are some of the squirliest tires on a turn
I have ever ridden. Once you lean it out more than 40 degrees or so
it seems the tread pulls the bike down and lays it down in a skid.
My last comment is on the age thing and the putting thing. I am 47
years old and an agressive solo rider. Put a big gun and a power
tube on your KLR and then hold on cause it will do about 120MPH if
you are not careful.
