running out of oil options

hi all,
today, i got shocked when my workshop informed me that they do not
have anymore stock of valvoline 20w50 motor oil. the importer stopped
bringing it in to malaysia

now i can always revert back to using my motul 20w50, but then that
thing burns quite fast after running about 2000 to 2500km.
i was then told that penzoil's 20w50 is good.
can anyone comment on this?
i'm not trying to start an oil thread here ok?
i can't use shell rotella here coz theres just one type here and its
totally different from what you guys use over there in the States.
silkolene is too bloody expensive
total is crap
theres no mobil 1 for bikes over here

Any good-quality 20w50 should work, at least until the viscosity
stabilizers break down and the oil starts burning off fast (as you found
with the motul), and penzoil is a good quality 20w50. Who knows, it might
have higher-quality viscosity enhancers than the motul, it certainly
couldn't hurt to see.

Do you have diesel big rigs there? (Where was "there" again?). Do you have
large fueling stations ("truck stops") for those large trucks there, where
the trucks buy their fuel and oil? If so, check there to see what the
large trucks are using in their crankcase.

The Mobil 1 20w50 car version should work fine in a KLR.

Clint, I've been using it in my BMW K bike for over 10 years.

hauling a klr

Matt,
I had a 'rack' made to carry my KLR on the rear of my (old) motorhome, and it
secures via a 'u' shaped piece that goes over the seat while I sit on it (180#) to
compress the ends a bit but not too much. Worked fine on a 500 mile haul. If
you want to see pictures, e-mail me and I'll send you some.
