I intend to do the same thing for my new (to me) KLR. I already own an aluminum hitch carrier rated at 500lbs. It's 5' x 2' so is not big enough, but I planned to bolt a 6' channel for the bike. How do you load the bike? Do you carry a length of plan for a ramp or similar? Is it easy enough to get the bike up there and support it while you are attaching the tie-downs?

I carry a short ramp along with me and just roll the KLR up the ramp. I
also used this we great success with my DR650.

How do I stop my posts from showing up all weird here on the board?
You know, a sentence line then just one word, then another sentence
line then another word, and so on. It drives me nuts seeing posts like
that.
