Hi All!
I've been wanting a KLR650 for awhile now...finally bought one a
little over a week ago (on ebay). It's an 87 (does that make it an
A1?) with 4885 miles on it, traded in by the original owner at Yamaha
of Gastonia (NC).
It looks practically new, since the PO garaged it all of its life -
no plastic fade and very few scratches. I've ordered new petcock
internals to stop the petcock from leaking, and I had to drill out
the right side seat bolt that was broken off in the hole. Am having
new Metzelers installed next week (original tires still have some
tread left, but not much).
Am leaning toward installing the Progressive LR front springs and
probably a new rear shock eventually.
It also seems to be seeping a bit of oil from the right side case
where the "clutch arm" (or whatever it's called) sits down in the
hole. Anyone experience this? Is it difficult to install a new o-ring
or whatever gasket is in there?
Thanks!
Scott

my "new" klr
So old with so few miles, I think you can expect
anything made of rubber to be bad, including all seals
and gaskets. And as well, any part that carries or
stores fuel will need a thorough cleaning..
