Guys, How do you go about in jackin the rear mono shock up to its hardest point. is there a easy way ... without the tool....do a need tae lift the rear wheel off the ground. ???????John, Mabozzar

Turn the 12mm bolt head located on the top lefthand side of the shock clockwise until the "5" line appears. If you go too far it will go back to "1". You can do it with the rear wheel on the ground. What is the recommended setting for highway riding?

Depends on what you weigh. What you are looking for is about 3" of sag, the amount the suspension compresses from fully extended with no weight on the rear wheel to where it is when you are sitting on the bike. I saw the top bolt and a number "1" on either side of the bolt. If I turn the bolt head clockwise will I then see number "2,3..."? As I move up the scale I expect the ride to get harder as the numbers increase, right? Will there be a noticeable difference going over bumps? Is the rebound damping most noticeable after hitting a big bump or dip in the road? I really appreciate your help explaining and informing me of these options. Once you find the bolt head that adjusts the pre-load turn it around a couple of times to see how it works. It is easy to get at so play with the adjustment and get it the way that feels good to you. There is no "right" setting. The rebound damping adjustment at the bottom of the shock controls how fast the suspension comes up after you hit a bump. If it is turned up to too high a number the suspension will tend to sink under you over a series of bumps. ----------------------- Thats probably in the ballpark, especially since speedometers vary from bike to bike. Some are 10 % fast, some 7 %, some maybe less than that from what Ive read on the board. I hit generally hit an indicated 60 at just over 4000, maybe 4100. At 5000 though it seems like I recall seeing more like an indicated 75. I'll have to check that next time.
