master link?

When chain replacement time comes, I was wondering if using a master
link is an OK way to go or should I just stick with the continous
chain? Any suggestions?

What exactly is "inferior" about the OEM chain? Mine lasted for 12,000 miles and stayed well within wear limits as indicated by Krokko's chain stretch gauge; I finally replaced it when the plating on the rollers began to wear through in a few spots, though the chain was still well within spec. I was quite surprised by how long it lasted. Not much serious mud in those 12K but plenty of dirt roads and NYC winter road salt/sand. Me too. I got 17,000 miles out of my stock chain on my Tengai. I would have kept it on the bike for another 1 or 2K, but I was leaving on a 2,500 mile trip and didn't want to risk it. A master linked chain is fine. I've run about 7 or 8 of them so far on KLRs with no trouble. Never lost a link or a clip. Mark>When chain replacement time comes, I was wondering if using a master >link is an OK way to go or should I just stick with the continous >chain? Any suggestions?
