Any listers familiar with this company?
Good or bad experiences dealing with them?
http://www.newenough.com/index2.htm
They seem to have some excellent prices in the "closeout" section. For you KLR guys check out "Green Things"

I've bought several items from them - highly recommend them. Their prices
are fair (excellent on the closeouts as you noted) and they are friendly,
shipping is fast.

Hey Steve,
The jacket I had towards the end of last summer was from there. Fast
shipping. Never had to deal with anyone because it was purchased
online (if i remember correctly) IMO it was quite a good jacket for
the price I paid for it.
You must have been talking to Bill have you, he just ordered one I
think.
I will miss the back roads up there this summer. If you ever come
down this way stop in and see me.

Last week I purchased a Hein Gericke Tuareg "El Chott" 3/4 length
textile jacket from New Enough. Looks like an old Paris-Dakar style
jacket, perfect for dual sport riding. The original list MSRP on these
were $350. The jackets were thought to have been sold out 2 years ago,
but Fairchild (the US distributor of HG) just found a bunch of them
sitting in boxes in the warehouse. New Enough bought the whole batch
and is selling them of at $99 each. Only Medium and Large sizes are
available. The jacket is 500 denier Cordura with a waterproof Shel-Tex
inner membrane and a removable Thermolite liner. Has CE approved
Core-Comp armor, and is really good looking in a khaki and blue color
scheme. I rode in lght rain in elevations up to 4,000 feet last
weekend and stayed warm and dry. Only downside seems to be the very
limited venting. I love this jacket and have actually thought of
getting a second one for when the first wears out! Standard disclaimer
here---I have no association with New Enough, but have had good
experiences as a customer on several purchases from them. I just
wanted to pass on to the list the info on these Hein Gericke jackets
because they seem to fit the KLR ethos so well--- a great functional
piece of kit, perfect for dual sport riding, at a really cheap price!

Sure, here goes.
> >My questions are:
> >Does this mean that the alternator is still working?
Well, I learned that at least part of it is still working in this
situation. Like Pat pointed out, Kawasaki has a dedicated part of
the system to just the ignition. That's really cool. I mean look at
our friend John. His battery was dead when he left. Didn't stop him
from having fun putting hundreds of miles on his bike in a few days
anyway.
> >If not, how does the bike still run?
Motor is still turning the part that is working and producing juice
to keep going.
> >If it is working, what are the likely problems....rectifier? Loose
or

Myself, and others, are betting on a wire problem. Hey, John's bike
has close to 70,000 miles. Wires are bound to have rubbed long
enough to have some problems now.
> >Should you still be able to bump start a KLR with a completely dead
> >battery, or no battery at all?
Yes, as long as the dedicated ignition coil and related parts are all
working properly. Of course you won't want to go anywhere in the
dark.
