I have a 96 KLR that will start,, run about 2 minutes and quit. Have checked and have no spark. Let it cool down and it will start again, run and quitHave checked ohms on coil when it is cool and is in speck, are there any other things it can be besides the CDI? I need some info bad. Any info would be great! Anyone having a CDI for sale please let me know too. Thanks Kevin

Is it starving for fuel? Try running it with the gas cap loose, you may be getting a vacuum lock in the fuel system. Your petcock is vacuum activated, check that the hose is connected. Pull off the vacuum hose while its running and see if you are getting some suction. 2 minutes is to short of time for the CDI to overheat I would think. West

And keep in mind, that even if it is the CDI, the only way to diagnose a bad CDI is to either replace it with a known good unit or by eliminating all the other possibilities. Your symptom readily fits one of two things: a problem with fuel delivery or a spark plug that needs to be replaced. Pat G'ville, NV [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Had exactly the same thing happen to my 2002. I almost ordered a new CDI but fortunately found the problem before spending $400.- Cdn The problem was one of the plug-ins in the wiring harness, situated just ahead of the CDI, that was not making proper contact. When cool it was all right, but once it heated up it would break contact. Drove me absolutely crazy! Check all your contacts and plug-ins in your harness and you will probably find one that is making pour contact. It is also a good idea to clean those contacts while in there to prevent it from happening again, or from happening, period. Gorm L., BC, Canada
