First time on the site,
Does anyone like me suffer from small legs?
I have a 1988 A3 model Klr650, which I've restored back to life with a
complete overhaul. My only problem is that due to the high seat height, i'm
having problems with not being able to reach the floor very well.
The Unitrack suspention is at it's lowest setting and I could still lose at
least an inch to get my feet safely on the floor.
Any suggestions??
Also I have some 88 KLR wheels, front fork, fuel tank, handel bars, various
bit's and pices for sale. 150 for the lot.

Hi everyone,
As a potential buyer who's never ridden a klr 650 I'm
wondering if my 30-31 inch inseam would make this bike
too tall for me? I would be riding on the street
mostly. If so, is there a way of lowering it slightly?
Also, what do the letter-number designations mean
(like A15)?

Some folks use lowering links for the rear suspension, not sure where to get
them. Check with Fred Hink at
www.arrowheadmotorsports.com
A1 is the first KLR 650- 1987
A2- 1988
A3- 1989
etc....etc..

Those low links work great! Check "Dual Star" probably (
www.dualstar.com) or
contact Steve direct (qe@...) at Quality Engineering, makers of the
links, for more info. I have a set to go on my KLR sometime next week. I
have ridden the KLR with lowering links and it really makes a difference.
Especially if you plan to do a lot of highway riding. The ride improves and
the handling seems to be a bit better, not to mention being able to get a
good foot plant when stopping. Some of the heavy "off road" users may not
like the links (you do sacrifice some ground clearance) but, hey, you gotta
ride your own ride! Do what's best and SAFE for you. Just an opinion ... but
I WILL lower my KLR and I have a 32 inch inseam.

Hi Chris. I too am a 30" inseam and also 65yrsd old.
My legs don't swing quit as freely as they used to so I got a set of
lowering dog bones and with them, you raise the forks in the triple clamps 1
1/2". Works swell. I also bought a Corbin seat and that is great. Fun bike.
I know you will enjoy one. The # designations are for the years. Mine is a
2000 model and its designation is,A14. The 2001s are A15. Have fun, Terry

I'm a 31" inseam and the bike sits just fine for me. I like the cowboy style
boot and am able to sit with both feet flat.

Just before Christmas I was over to the Kawasaki dealer we use for our 4
wheeler. I found a 02 Klr650 and sat on it. I could plant both heels on
the floor with not a lot of trouble. This past week I was at a Honda
dealer and sat on an XR650L. Tip toes is all that would touch. I could
not begin to get my knee over the saddle without standing on the peg
first. I can mount a GoldWing with the passenger already aboard so yes, I
do know the tricks. Now I am wondering if the KLR 650 had been
lowered. Or maybe the suspension was extremely weak. (No air?) I realize
the XR650L is 2 inches higher but man, that was a tall 2 inches.
