Today I took mt 2005 KLR home today. Simple 20 mile ride down Rt1 past L.L. Bean in about 37 degree range. I need to say I cannot wait for warmer temps. The bike really handled well. I am psyked, and parked the bike at a buddy's house about 5 minutes from work so I can go for lunch time rides. http://thehauntedmansion.org/klr/Dave.jpg http://thehauntedmansion.org/klr/Bike%20008.jpg As you can see ther is still a bunch of snow in Maine. Dave. New A19 Owner.

Cool Dave. Looks just like the one I brought home about 10 days ago. Of course I didn't have the snow you have but I did get the same reaction by riding it as you did. I loved how it handled. I do wish I could flat foot it like you do. If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? I'm 5'9" w/32" inseam and have to tip-toe the bike or lean slightly sideways. No bid deal so far but......you know :) Jon... A19 in Portland, OR.

I got my 05' KLR last November. It now has 286mi. 314 mi approx. to exceed 4k rpm. I rode my bike today. I get to work about 5:30am. 30 degree's and a little icy. The KLR is excellent. On the way home I had to hit the back roads to get a little muddy. Would that make my bike an A19 as well. Dave very nice bike. Jon I to have to tip toe. Boise.

If you try sitting as far forward on the seat as humanly possible when you come to a stop .. you will get your best footing. Or so I've heard. barnaby

I noticed in traffic that it was like I was standing next to the other vehicles. This bike stands Tall in traffic. I have another question. I let the bike fully Warm up before riding, however do to the outdoor temp 35 degree range the Temp dropped way off on the gauge. Is this a problem ? When I came to a stop at a light it wold climb back up. I let the bile idle and it gets to middle and the fan kicks off. Dave A19 in Portland, Me. Coast to coast..:)

Totally normal. It will range from low to high (but never red zone) depending on temp flowing through radiator (or not) If you have not read the KLR FAQ yet, please take the time. And most important, go to the bike as soon as possible, wrenchs screwdrivers allen wrenches in hand and tighten every nut bolt and screw on the bike. Also get a pair of needle nose and reach around behind the speedo and tighten where the cable goes in. If you read the FAQ, it will do well to answer many of the questions your going to have. Be sure to post your rides here, many of us are stuck in the cold/snow and can't ride/wont ride, and need a fix.... No bid deal so far but......you know :) Try 5'6" with a 30" inseam !!!, but that dont stop me.The KLR is the best thing I ever did for ME!!!.

Amazing what a couple inches will do :) I know what you mean about the height in traffic. I've gone from a V-Twin cruiser to the KLR. I'm still getting used to looking the drivers of the big 4x4's in the eyes instead of looking at their tires :)

I did a double take when I first read Portland. Then I saw the state. Yup coast to coast :) Jon...

repairdude36: I hear that. I totally agree with the "Best thing I ever did for ME!!" comment :) I'm still getting used to mine but loving it more each time I ride it. I can't wait to get it off road. Dave: Now that you have the new bike, and snow on the ground, if you go play in the snow with the stock tires let us know how they work :) Jon...
