Has anyone ever suffered the consequences of trying to jump start a KLR with a car? I'm wondering how much of the electrical system is now toast. The fuse blows when the starter switch is pressed (battery was recharged after the jump didn't work.) Lights/horn work OK. Fred KLR650 A15

I am certain the starter (at least) is fried, next time put your energy into push starting it. Get about 3-5mph with choke off, key on, 2nd gear, pop clutch, slam on choke, vroooommmmm! Dont shut it off till home or where a fresh battery may reside. --- fogden2003 wrote:

Sure. The bike started. Definitely the consequence I was looking for. 12V is 12V. If your battery was really dead and you left it hooked up too long it may not have appreciated the high charging rate from the car battery through the jumper cables -- but if your battery was in such bad shape already odds are you don't care much. Are you *sure* you didn't hook the jumper cables up backwards? Thor

what warranty does the klr come with?
