You are doomed - everyone over 19 is old!
I am near 50, and I have been assigned to early death for decades. ( Weep,
cough).

You have a XT600 ? At least the KLR will not feel like a powerhouse
for you then.
One of the Enduraid guys had what I think was a XT600 base bike and
then modified just a little tiny bit, seemed to me even with him on
the bike (he was kinda a big guy) the front end had a hard time
staying on the ground.

Click on the "Hosts" small pic to see the bike (left side)
The KLR is a very easy bike to ride, heck I was off 2 wheels for
almost 16~17 years and it all came back within a few minutes of
getting on the bike for the first time.
Welcome to Hotel KLR...

Over 19 old? Keyaw!!!!!!!!!!. I used to have the attitude
of "Live fast, Die Young and Make A Beautiful Corpse". Now at 61, my
lovely daughter says I forgot to die. Sometimes I wonder about that
kid. But really , I think somebody up there likes me.

Who was pretty lucky and most always had a bike around since 16.
