I was in Naval Aviation in the later 70's to early 80's - other than a few brawls between our air-wing and our brothers in military service (Marines in particular), we spent most of our time keeping our eye on the ball and giving the communists great pause. :-) To ALL of the servicemen and women serving our country, and to their relatives: I wish you all - a heartfelt Merry Christmas! Ditto, but as panty-waisted ET jumping from island to island, I gave the Ruskies even less to worry about. For those in uniform during this holiday season, my family and I will sleep soundly -knowing that you have the watch. We hope you and your loved ones are doing okay. And we are grateful for your service. Our prayers are with you. MarkB

I was in the Navy 68-71. Spent some time in Pensacola and then in Norfolk, assigned to Sub Squad Six. I was a spook, anybody know what that is? Terry Tenn 93 KLR 95 KLX (2) 85 BMW R80G/S

Ahem, someday I MIGHT admit that some of my best friends were 'spooks,' but then they'd just jerk my clearence. It's good to know this board has some solid bretheren-of-the-sea and NavAir. Thought I'd better hurry to 'put my oar in the water' before this thread got filled up with Khaki. I was in P-Cola in the 60's too; blackshoe ET who caught the last NAVCAD class. Exciting life; those WERE the good old days!! [Old is a state of mind] In keeping with the season, A less known verse of the Navy Hymn that speaks to all those 'youngsters' in harms way this Christmas: Lord, guard and guide the men who fly And those who on the ocean ply; Be with our troops upon the land, And all who for their country stand: Be with these guardians day and night And may their trust be in thy might. Author Unknown (1955) That they come home safe!! Pat M WA A14

Supported a few on Adak, before the end of the cold war. My roomy there was CT-2. But I never held the spook part against him. MarkB

I was in the Navy in the early 80's playing with guns, bombs, missles, and nukes. (AO) After about 3 years of that crap they kicked me out, just like my grade school did, and my high school. Hmmmmmm, I think I see a pattern here. I didn't take any crap (or orders apparently) from anyone..........especially phillipino's telling me to "backume de ploor", translated "vacuum the floor". I was a S3 TRO in a TOC in Vietnam 67-68 and when we were out in the field S2 was about 10 steps away. Alan Henderson A13 Iowa
