There is a new show on Bravo TV about two Brits who decide to take a motorcycle trip together...they end up deciding to go around the world. I watched it Thursday at 10 Pm (9 Central for you farmers). Check it out on : http://www.bravotv.com/Long_Way_Round/
If you don't want to check out the link, just watch for it on Bravo on Thursday. Set that TiVo for a season pass. Just so you don't miss out, this message will be repeated. You can read about the first episode at the link. Basically you missed how they prepared and planned for the trip. Watch KTM give up a fantastic chance for priceless, cheap advertisement. I'll give you one guess what they end up riding, and they are not KLR's.

I was sort of stunned they refused, what a marketing failure. Though I did see their point. These two guys don't look like the most promising prospects to complete the run, will be interesting to see what happens. Personally, I can't believe the guys didn't do any reading about trips like this or they would have been on 650's for sure. I wouldn't even consider the big GS for a run like this and I'm probably twice their size. Hey Allan, if you think of it, in the email client you use, if you take a look in preferences, set 'line wrap' or 'wrap outgoing messages' and set it to 72-80 characters so your message paragraphs aren't one single line. -- ___ ______ _____ __ ________ ___ / _ |< < / == / ___/__ / /_ /_ __/ / __ ____ _ ___ /__ \ / __ |/ // / ****/ (_ / _ \/ __/ / / / _ \/ // / ' \/ _ \ /__/ /_/ |_/_//_/ == \___/\___/\__/ /_/ /_//_/\_,_/_/_/_/ .__/ (_) 8600 miles*Russel Lines*Supertrapp Race* /_/ http://www.kingsqueak.org/klr650/> Watch KTM give up a fantastic chance for priceless, cheap advertisement.

Anyone else wonder why these two rich spoiled movie stars need to have
free bikes, gear tools etc. Then they fly into a rage tearing up
posters when KTM backs out, give me a break. If they had to buy their
own bikes and gear they would be riding KLRs. Hollywood pussies.

Chris I agree with you, 650cc would have been a better choice. Too
many people thing you need big powerful engines when a 650 would be
more than enough. Maybe the choice wasn't theirs though. BMW gave
them the free bikes & probable wanted to promote their big expensive
model. Did you notice the load they were carrying? From a distance
the bikes probable look more like a big ball than a motorcycle. I
wonder if at some point you will see them shedding some of that
cargo? It looks like it will be a great show & am looking forward to
the next 5 episodes. Pete Chester A16

LOL yeah, you wouldn't have seen me carrying _anything_ with two chase/support vehicles like they have. Heck with the support vehicles, I would have been all over a 650, maybe even a 400 just to make the nasty roads more bearable. My favorite story from http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ was the poor guy on the KLR whose shock blew up in Siberia. He got lucky enough to find a farmer with a welder and they cut the eyes off the shock and welded up a SOLID shaft. He had to ride something like 1100 miles with a solid rear end. No support crew for that guy. Amazing. -- ___ ______ _____ __ ________ ___ / _ |< < / == / ___/__ / /_ /_ __/ / __ ____ _ ___ /__ \ / __ |/ // / ****/ (_ / _ \/ __/ / / / _ \/ // / ' \/ _ \ /__/ /_/ |_/_//_/ == \___/\___/\__/ /_/ /_//_/\_,_/_/_/_/ .__/ (_) 8600 miles*Russel Lines*Supertrapp Race* /_/ http://www.kingsqueak.org/klr650/> model. I don't know if the support vehicals will be a total help to them.
The way I heard it on the first show the support vehicals will only
meet them at certain points, like boarder crossings & certain
cities. The filming along the trip will mainly be by Claudio (I
think that was his name) on the third bike rigged with the cameras.
Of course who knows what really will be taking place. If they really
get into trouble I imagine they won't really be on there own, like
others,Ted Simon for instance on his two Jupitor's Travels rides.
Still what they are doing will be some ride & you have to give them
credit. Pete Chester A16

the elimination of use of off-highway vehicles on public lands...!
(sorry - wrong subect line in my last post)
if you care about dirt...or any of a number of other personal freedom
issues:
I DO NOT want to start any political threads - but as dual sport riders, I
thought you might like to kow this...
Please do your own research and try not to validate this post or verify my
message - come to your own conclusions rather than shoot me down or hold me
up. Just passing along something I think is worthwhile knowledge to you.
BTW - I can't find anything about Bush on this. Yet.
quoted.....
from Speed TV:
Presidential Candidate "John Kerry will reinstate the Clinton
administration's phase-out of noisy and polluting snowmobiles, which have
been overrunning some of our most precious national lands, including
Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. While snowmobiles,
jet skis and all terrain vehicles have their place, they do not mix with
sensitive wildlife resources and our nation's most treasured wild places. If
elected, John Kerry will revisit the roadless rule." - from the Conservation
Covenant www.johnkerry.com/pdf/vision.pdf
from another list:
Kerry, speaking to the Sierra club last week was asked his position on
banning snowmobiles from Yellowstone; "When I am elected your next President
I will LIMIT and ELIMINATE the use of off-highway vehicles on public lands
to stop the damage that they cause."
I just foud this at the AMA District 37 pages thought you guys would want
to know.
