Do we have enough interested listers to have another tech day/ doohickey party at my house? It's been quite a while since I had one and I figure we might as well do one before the rain hits us. MrMoose A8 (Barbie and Ken special)

Tech day in beautiful Northern CA? October is full, so if it can be held in November, I am probably in. Lost Coast diversion and all - your photo posts for the area got my attention. Hell Yeah! I would be way up for this. I live in redding, CA and there are 4-5 other klr's in the area that have been wanting to do some maintenance and the doohicky change, i would also have 2 bikes to take down. tell me when and where and i will be there (work permitting of coarse). I am bigger than the bosses so i can twist arms if needbe A17 Circus Bear a.k.a. Lurch --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "Keith Saltzer" wrote:

ACTUALLY......my wife doesn't know it yet, but I am planning my own KLR Lost Coast Rendevous for a good excuse to get us all together again but in a more fall/winter like setting next to the ocean. James, Bill, and I have been absolutely BUGGIN to get back up there. I was thinking around Nov for the trip. My birthday is Nov 22. Any thoughts on this idea and/or the date? OK, sounds good Lurch. I am thinking about later this month. Say 2 or 3 weeks? Since your the one with the most jobs, I think I should hear what your schedule is like first. MrMoose A8 (Barbie and Ken special)

Mr.Moose I know that i am good for the 2 of my own (one is actually my sisters but she never rides it and it does need some mainenance). the rest of these guys dont do internet much so they are unfamilliar with DSN_KLR650. I know that one guy SAM needs about 30 days to give notice of a weekend off (he is a tues-saturday working guy), i dunno about SAMs brother but he is interested, MARK works his own hours, and one of MARKs buddies that I havent met yet. that is 5 that i personally know would like to be there and one questionable.. if i put the word out more will come from northern Cali. but before i do that how many do you have the room to service? i do not want to over whelm you with tooo many people. Holy crap Lurch! I thought you said that you didn't have anyone to ride with up there? I could handle about 7 max, if it's just doohickey change outs. If you guys want more, then it's gonna be more time. Valve adjusments are a bit time consuming. Is everyone planning on doing the job themselves with my guidance or are they expecting me to do everything? Would you all show up at the exact same time? Maybe I'll just have you and your "crew" down for a weekend. Maybe come over Saturday and stay the night? Have a barbeque next to a fire that night? Then have another get together for more riders. What do you guys want to do? Get accomplished? MrMoose A8 (Barbie and Ken special)

MarkB and I talked last night, and are thinking about crashing your party. Need a couple of fairly experienced wrenches? We each have the special tools, too. We'll watch for the date. All the best, Mike Eagle Mfg & Eng San Diego, Ca since 1990

You'll be a welcome addition. Your expertise - as well as Tim Bernard's - sure came in handy when the compromised washers/spacers gummed up the works in my A9. BTW attendees should order one or two extra woodruff keys # 510A4200 Those little guys are sure easy to lose. Bogdan

Where exactly would this tech session be? I'm stuck in Bakersfield (around the middle of the state) and I'm sure my bike could use the Doohickey upgrade as well as a valve adjustment (and who knows what else). I haven't seen any other listers from this area - I wanted to make the Julian tech session but mine was down waiting for a new CDI box. I finally have it running and got in my first 100 miler plus day yesterday in the mountains. Had a blast. Sure is geared high though for the tight spots. My wife rides a Super Sherpa and she had no problem getting through the tight trails - but her lower 3 gears are so low you can almost walk faster than the bike. It's been 20 years since we've ridden off road, our butts, wrists and forearms are recovering now (while we are smiling . . .)
