waterproof dual sport boots?

Do any companies manufacture dual sport boots that are really and
truly waterproof? I know there are multiple street motorcycle boots
possibilities with Gaerne ST Dry Sport Touring boots, Sidi On Road
Symaptex boots, and Oxtar Matrix Gore-Tex boots. I haven't run
across dual sport boots that have the Gore-Tex lining or similar
product. What am I missing here? I don't even see true MX boots as
being advertised as being waterproof. This seems to be ridiculous. I
mean dual sporters and MX riders go through a lot of rain, streams,
puddles, wet vegetation, etc. and would really benefit from this
feature. What's up?
Thanks,
Rick

I think the Sidi Discovery boots have Gore-Tex.

Actually, a waterproof boot is useless once water enters through the
top in a *real* water crossing. Seal Skinz socks is a good choice for
deep water. They make a model that has a neoprene cuff to prevent
water from entering the top of the sock. I have Seal Skinz over-the
calf socks. They really work. They're seamless, waterproof and
breathable. On cold days however, my feet eventually will feel a bit
clammy, so I'll wear a thin pair of cotton dress socks under the Seal
Skinz.

They have some non-GoreTex breathable-waterproof membrane, but still
aren't uniformly watertight. The pair I have now ("new" model, with
black soles) has been OK so far, but I'm not holding by breath. The
last ones stopped being waterproof for no good reason a few months after
I got them.

I appreciate your interest in water-proof DS boots. I have a set of street
boots that I use to get to where I want to ride which are water tight, but
as to the dirt riding, I at times use my MX boots and lots of boot wax.
The MX boots stay dry inside, that is, until I immerse my boot for many
seconds into the water of a stream or such. Once my boot interior is wet, I
release the upper clamps a few clicks and let mother nature have a
field-day.
So, the query is valid - Gortex or similar 'wicking' material as the basis
for a boot - Surely it is available and preferred, but, the material must
also be strong and very abrasion resistant.
I look forward to the answer.

I use Vasque Sundowners. Actually a hiking boot with
a steel shank. Durable, comfortable, Goretex and you
can explore distant galaxies with them.

Nothing is "waterproof if you ride for hours in
highwind and rain, the water can climb over anything
at 70-80 mph. I find wearovers (little faggy booties)
and the best, I wear them over my formal office work
shoes and my billy bad-ass state trooper motorcycle
boots, which are also waterproof, but again, water
climbs. Two things I hate, one is when the water
creeps in and I know it is about to get a bit chilly
over the next few hours, and the worst is when I
decide not to ride cause I might get wet...

I wear the size XL over-the-calf sock. The foot part is great, but
the upper part could be a bit more generous as I have them well
stretched over my big calves. Guys with normal-sized calves will
experience more room.
Last spring,
www.sportsmansguide has/had them in 4 packs for $39.00.
Normally, they're not cheap at $24.00 a pair. Since Google's stock is
rising, you should be able to do a search for the current good
pricing deals.

From The Great White North:
Having recently put 10,000 Klm on The Mile Muncher in all types of water
conditions I'd say that I am more than happy with my SIDI Combat Touring
boots. When looking for a boot I gave no consideration to cost, only
suitability. These are the same boot worn by Greg Frazier on his numerous
world trips. I've been in 6 hour downpours and waded to inches below the top
and remained dry. I'd recommend them to anyone needing a good boot and
willing to pay for them.
Cheers,
