nklr list problem

I made this suggestion recently, but thought I would make it again anyway. I propose there be two lists, 1 for strict on topic KLR posts, the other for NKLR. Those who like both the technical discussions and the expanded sense of community that comes through discussing all topics with other motorcyclists / KLR fans can simply subscribe to both. Those who find themselves cursed with too many interests and are on too many mailings can just subscribe to the technical list. Another mailing list I am on operates in this manner and everybody quite likes it. Anytime an off topic post comes through the technical discussion the poster is simply asked to move it to the off topic discussion list, and tends to be self policing and everybody's happy. I kind of like this idea, it worked on another list I lurk on (Kawasaki W650riders) when the war in Iraq was dominating the posts. While I still believe that there should still be NKLR posts, but, it wouldn't hurt to have another forum where KLR owners can freely expound upon their political , religious views etc( basic hot button topics). The key would be that only willing participants would be involved.Mull it over.....cosmo

Why not just have the people that don't like the NKLR post filter them? Is this not the reason to add NKLR to the subject line? Denis

I guess because as I said,I think that there should still be NKLR posts. NKLR posts are very much part of the List. It's those "hot button topics" that just go around in a circle that need to be taken to a secondary list.It seems a shame that such passionate well thought out political arguments are being fought out on a KLR list. With so many members I'm sure an offshoot list politicalKLR would be a perfect forum for Guns , immigration ,war or the possibility that a politician may have lied . It just seems like a viable solution.....cosmo

Yes it is, but as normal, a few whine for change to make it more the way they like it, even though there is something in place called using NKLR on non-KLR posts. Same reason we have all these stupid laws and changes, instead of enforcing current law/rule, new ones are made that will have no effect either if not enforced like the ones that were ignored. For you people filtering this out, na nevermind you will not see this, for those whom are not filtering expecting alot of change to the way things happen on the list, just remember if you get it your way this list will get extremely boring with nobody posting anything, other than what oil, what tire/tyre, how tight is the chain ect ect ect. I second what conall said. Diable Kawasaki/BMW is one of the best shops in the Bay Area. its family run. If you call them they will give you the OTD price on any bike. they dont B.S. around. most of the Police and CHP in the bay area bring thier BMW's and Kawasaki's to them to fix. he only thing bad I can say is, they charge lsit price on parts, even if you buy a new bike from them. Hayward Honda would give you 20% off (parts) markup for the first bike you buy from them and 40% off (parts)markup for the second bike. i use to use my friends name to get a discount on stuff at that shop
