Out of 33,000mi in the past three-odd years, probably 3,000mi are actually off of paved roads. That represents a considerable amount of offroad time though, occasionally through really challenging terrain. Lots of days riding 200mi round trip to ride 20mi of single track. I'm getting about 25% of my riding off pavement, maybe as much as 1/3 of it. How ever, that is some of best times i've had in the saddle so I prefer to keep my bike setup for serious dirt riding just in case the mood hits me. I've lived my life in the west, on the edge of public land. From my current home, five miles in many direction gets me to a dirt road that leads to another and another and another. I don't know that I could adapt to living somewhere that I had to spend most my day just riding to and from where it got fun. I would go through withdrawals. That has got to be rough when you just can't get a dirt fix any time you need one. Nearly 99 to 1 street/dirt. I enjoy the little dirt riding I do, but that is not my primary reason for getting this bike, it is just a fun extra that this thing can do as well as it does in the dirt. Use Distanzia tires due to this. -- Doug Herr doug@...> Just curious about purpose.....what percentage does everybody use > their bike for on/off road.

Most of the street mileage is riding to gatherings where we hit the dirt ASAP. Mike Torst Las Vegas
90% dirt. I'm one of the few. 14T front sprocket, upgraded springs all over, non-DOT knobbies, bring it on.
