I was all set to get the Travelcade Gel Seat Kit (the one from Dual Star) - but of course, they are backordered - and Travelcade has none as well - no expected date they would get more. I have not seen a bunch out on the web. Anyone know any other sources that may have a few on the shelf? Cheers, Sean

I had one and i didn't think it was worth it. No better than stock for me. Try Russell, if they're still around, imho. -----Original Message----- From: nollsp [mailto:nollsp@...] Sent: Tuesday, August 26, 2003 9:25 PM To: DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com Subject: [DSN_klr650] Travelcade Gel Seat I was all set to get the Travelcade Gel Seat Kit (the one from Dual Star) - but of course, they are backordered - and Travelcade has none as well - no expected date they would get more. I beg to differ. I found it to be softer and more conforming, and the wetsuit like material keeps me from sliding back and forth on the seat like with the old plastic. Just keep bugging them, eventually they will get caught up. James --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "Peter Dahlheimer, MD" wrote:

Corbin KLR Flat all the way for me. I have a tender tush, and could only stand the stock 2002 seat for about 30 minutes at a time. With the Corbin, I can go pretty much all day. Steve R. '02 A16 --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "James Greeson" wrote:

Hmmn. I checked on the archives, minimal mention of the Travelcade, but what was there was pretty positive. So I ordered one (1 week backorder according to DualStar) and now everyone comes out of the woodwork saying they don't like them. Brilliant :-) I find the stock seat WAY too soft & squishy, so if the Travelcade is softer, that won't work. One post in the archives said upon receipt of the Travelcade, he thought the foam was way too hard (much firmer than stock) but DualStar advised him to use it anyways. I simply refuse to buy from Corbin. They suck and I can't recall the last time I heard someone say anything nice about their customer service. I looked on the Russell website, didn't see the KLR mentioned there anymore, it used to be. Plus, it's going to be a lot more than $109.00 which is what the Travelcade is. Hmmmn.... Tony

I've been looking at the Travelcade Gel Seat, and was wondering if anyone has it and would care to comment on it. I'm interesting in how comfortable it is and for how long. Also how easy is it to install, etc? Thanks for any comments.

I've got it, and it's my current favorite seat. I'm also getting a custom Mayer, but that's because of some S. America plans. For what I do in the US, the Travelcade is a good seat. I run comfortably 150 - 160 mi, a few minutes off and I'm ready to go again. I don't trust myself, so I took it to a seatcover shop to install. does the saddleman suck up water?? the 1 thing i like about the stock seat is that it can sit out in the rain and just wipe it off and no wet butt .

Responded off-list and said it doesn't seem to. It's sat out in all-day rain several times, and I haven't noticed any lingering dampness. Ride safe, Don Kime - VFR750F, GL1500SE, GL1100, KLR 650 OH - M/C Safety Instructor/RiderCoach dkime@... http://forums.delphiforums.com/MCTourer/
