tire direction of rotation question

I just got a King KT-966 rear tire mounted for my KLR 650. I was previously using the Kenda K-270 which lasted noticeably longer than the OEM Dunlops. I like the KT-966 tread pattern which looks aggressive enough for my safety zone on dirt roads, yet more rounded than the K-270 (or the IRC GP-1 which has same tread pattern) for leaning the curves on paved roads.
I notice the slanted knobs in the middle of the King KT-966 tire point toward one direction (kind of have a "V") , ... BUT there is no indicator on the tire sidewall for direction of rotation. The shop I used for mounting this tire put middle knobs pointing opposite the direction of rotation. I would have preferred the other way but did not notice my option here until I brought the balanced tire home and put it on my bike.
Is there any tire edicate for which way to mount the tire /... in terms of which way the V of the inner knobs of tire should be pointing? I notice the OEM Dunlops have a similar V of inner nobs whose slants kind of point in a "V" and they are marked on sidewall for direction of rotation with the V aiming toward direction of rotation.
Any one care to comment on pros and cons of RE: the "V" of middle nobs pointing "in" or "against" direction of rotation? Does it make any difference?
Happy KLR Rider, Bill
