Regarding Jake....
Again, He is NOT banned, just in moderated status due to prior
colorful postings I assume. I did not place him in this status. I
just inherited it.
He threw the gauntlet down basically challenging me to put it to a
vote on the list. What am I afraid of etc. So I am going to open a
poll just like he asked. I am going to put it to a vote. Do you,
the list want him to be able to post anything he wants?
Please be aware, that nobody is able to post "whatever" they want.
He thinks he should be able to. But if the list wants him back, I
will take him off of moderated status. Please VOTE!
Poll to be opened shortly.
Thanks.

I have no problem with Jake or anybody else saying what they want. I guess if you put NKLR on it, why not?

new poll at the request of a lister

Hi All,
Personally speaking I'd like to see Jake here on an unmoderated status.
There are times that appropriate responses to questions are delayed due to
his moderated status and as a result the list suffers.
There is a time and place for pissing contests and I for one don't think
that this list is that place. As you are all aware there are probably as
many personalities on this list as there are listers. Some people just take
life to seriously like the guy that threatened to shoot me between the eyes
when I suggested that Canadians would never approve of the right to "BARE"
arms. Now before the death threats roll in here again look at the spelling.
BARE is meant to refer to short sleeve or sleeveless garb not carrying guns.
It's just too damm cold in Canada to go round half naked al the time.
A lot of what has transpired in the past is IMHO more of an issue of placing
personalities before principals not the other way round.
Jake may be opinioned but then so am I. I don't think Bogdan can sing that
well though his harp skills are up there. Millerized looks damm scary in
pajamas with or without the assault rifle mounted on his trusty steed and I
believe that this Fred Hink character is actually a bot that scans our list
and inserts very accurate, informed canned responses, as well as fast
service, automatically just to keep us happy. Hell, people look at me like
I'm a nut when I tell them that I just did 10,000 Klm on The Mile Muncher
just cuz I wanted to do all that I could to make sure a friend that hadn't
ridden for 6 year made it home safe from Atlanta on his new Harley.
I've sat and chatted with Jake, argued some points with him and listened to
his rants on certain topics. Do I agree with everything he says? Not on your
life! Do I listen to what he has to say? Yes, and then I make my own
decisions. Jake has been a part of this list longer than most of us. He has
both experience and color to add here and I for one would like to see him
treated like the rest of us would like to be treated. He is and continues to
be an Ambassador where the KLR and promoting a fellowship among riders is
concerned. Just mention that you are going to be within 500 miles of Milford
and you'll have a tour guide, cook, B&B operator not to mention a pretty
good machinist at your disposal. Not like that rat on an '04 KLR in Kansas
that refused to wave as I passed him going the opposite direction in a
blinding rain storm.
Principals before personalities is one of my favorite AA slogans and one
which I follow daily.
So, my vote is for "unmoderated status" and if he flips out I'll personally
ride down there and hit him with a pound of back bacon.
Cheers,
Dave Watkins

Roclore1,
Unfortunately Jim's comment was not a homo phobic comment but was
referring the the self-locking countershaft nut's that Jake sells.
The list has always joked about Jake's nuts, but the right one
(correct) and the left one.
