I am considering purchasing a new KLR and would like to know the best way to lower the bike, Thanks in advance

The best way to lower is likely to have the rear shock professionally shortened because this maintains the range of rear suspension travel. The easiest way to lower is to buy a set of lowering links. Mine dropped the rear 1.5 inches and took about 15 minutes to install. Drop the front by sliding the fork tubes up in the clamps and loctite & torque the bolts on everything. With a 28 inch inseam the stock height was no fun at all as it was impossible in any sort of rough ground. I am thrilled with the lowered height (C18) and recommend the modification. The wheel base is increased by about 3/4 inch so the chain needs to be adjusted or you run the risk of damage to the engine case/output bearing. I bought a Corbin Dish seat for my KLR to lower it 1.5" it seamed to help. KLRgirl
