Subject: Spark Plug
What is the difference between a resistor spark plug and a non-
resistor. I see in my new manual USA bikes call for non-resistor and
other countries call for resistor. Whick is best? Does it hurt to
run an R in the USA bikes?

A resistor spark plug reduces radio interference. They are more for vehicles
that have radios or computers controlling the engine. An engine that runs on
non-resistor plugs can also cause radio interference with nearby cars or
other communication devices. On the new high performance outboard boat
motors they have to run resistors because the non-r's will mess up the
computer and shut down the motor or make it run like crap. A resistor plug
is from about 10 cents to $1.00 more then a non-r plug. since you only have
one plug on a KLR the extra $ won't hurt you. plus it MAY prevent problems
with the electronic CDI.
