I have just purchased a used KLR 650 and would like to change the doohickey before it fails (in Africa where I am going soon). However, I do not have the time to do it myself. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in the greater DC area that has changed the doohickey? Am willing to go as far as Baltimore. Thanks Yann

FYI - If you're at all mechanically inclined then changing the doohickey yourself should take less time than riding your bike from DC to Baltimore and back. -Lujo

Yann- Where are you located? The DC Metro is a rather large area. And doing it yourself, or with the help of a kind stranger, will, as Lujo says, be quicker than taking it to a shop. Z DC A5X A12X

Z DC A5X A12X ------------ I need to "do" the doohickey sometime this summer after I get back from my two-week jaunt on the VFR. Perhaps with the right help we can arrange a repeat of the Mid-Atlantic Wrench Fest and group doohickey swappo. :) I need to adjust my valves too, since I'm pushing 7k miles on the beast. If'n it can wait until August 14th, I'm planning a get together Wrenchfest in WV. I'm less than 1.5hrs from DC (far side). Nice scenery, probably fire up the grill and sear some animal flesh. But if you can't wait, follow the directions. Only takes an hour with the right tools. 1.2 with the wrong ones but it runs rough afterwards! millerized (any takers on a Inwood, WV Wrenchfest on August 14th?
