Has anyone looked at this web site? http://www.smartplugs.com/engines/4stroke/atv.htm A friend of mine has helped him with his web site and his Honda Passport was converted over to diesel with an existing gas motor for a period of time. I don't completely understand the process however the military has expressed interest in it since it allows diesel to be run in a lighter and smaller gas engine. I haven't talked to him lately so I'm not sure what the latest developments have been. Glen A-13

Interesting. Looks like they're trying to do compression ignition at a lower temperature and pressure than a diesel, via using a catalyst to pre-vaporize the diesel fuel.

The biggest drawback is that it is the high compression of a diesel engine that makes it so efficient. Without that, you lose the efficiency advantage. -E

I'm looking to add a bike to the stable; something more suited for hyway and two-up riding. I'm starting to lean towards the Tiger, however I don't know much about the bike. Does anyone have any experience with it? Dave *********************************************** I have only had one weekends worth of association with a Tiger but it was enough. A couple of friends (Tiger and KLR) and myself (KLR) decided to do some fire service roads up in North Georgia. At precisely 20 miles from nowhere the Tiger suddenly lost all electrical power. Nothing would work - not even the headlight. We took that sucker completely apart and giggled, probed, tightened, loosened, probed, kicked and cussed for a couple of hours. Suddenly, for no good reason, the thing came back to life. He said that this was the second time that this had happened. He rode the thing back to camp without a problem. The next morning, nearly all of his gas had leaked out of the center carb. Stuck float? He ended up trailering the thing back to Florida. I used to own a BSA but nowadays, IMHO, there are much better choices out there for the money. I hear very good feedback from people who own the V-Strom 1000. A used low mile BMW R1150GS would be a good choice. I'd wait for the smoke and hype to clear on the R12GS. - Keith A7
