wheel bearings n things

Hey all,
I was changing my tires last night (Perelli scorpions) and realized
my bearings felt kinda funny. rear left is almost loose enough to
spin,, the other feels good. Both front ones are almost to hard to
turn by hand. These are sealed so no repacking right? Should I just
replce em? bikes got 16k.
And for that guy with the bad main bearing, If anyone has
sizes/sources for engine parts, please share. Thats the only gray
area of the KLR.

The original wheel bearings are sealed only on the outside. When I
checked my for the first time, there wasn't much grease from the
factory. I repacked mine each time I changed tires. If you've run
16k on only the typical pitiful amount of factory grease, you
probably need to upgrade to total sealed bearings.

Well then ill pull em out and check for damage "maybe" repack.
They hard to get in/out. I see ill prob need to tap em out or
somthing.

Removing them kinda damages them. You're better-off just getting
double-sealed replacements from a local bearing shop. They're only
like $4.00-6.00 each. Just make sure they're not Chinese.

I never liked the idea of re-using wheel bearings once removed.
They're pretty inexpensive parts and fairly easily damaged in
removal, so I just replace them.
That said, I have a needle fitting for my grease gun that is
supposedly able to shoot grease through the rubber seals of a
bearing. Anybody ever done that?

It's customary to replace bearings when they're questionable- tapping
them out usually damages them. Ride them until they get loose or
"chunky" feeling, then just replace them with double-sealed bearings
Bearings are cheap, I usually buy mine from johnson-bearing.com. Get
anything but the Chinese makes, or ge the Chinese ones and get a few
extra. Sizes are in the FAQ somewhere.

BTW i found the company for bearings Its
http://www.arrowweb.com/bake/home.htm thats the johnson bearing
place but im going to try and find em locally first.
