You guys didn't like my ASCII art did you

The bolt and link are **** OFF THE BIKE ****
Sleeves, bearings, etc, both on the swingarm and shock mount are fine,
and I got them cleaned and lubed up last night.
I have one bolt however STUCK in the link itself.
This is what I have sitting on my workbench, again, out/off the bike:

And you don't like looking up parts diagrams. The bolt isn't stuck in
the link, because the shaft is smaller than the hole in the link. The
sleeve is corroded onto the bolt and that's why it won't come out of the
link.

Hopefully you haven't ruined the threads on the ends, you might need to
buy a die and clean them up.
You need to heat the entire assembly, then use a hydraulic press to push
the bolt out of the link and sleeve. You need to support the link on
both sides of the head so you don't damage it with the press.
A press will often work where a BFH will just break sh*t.
Harbor Freight sells a 12-ton press for under $100. VERY useful shop tool.

Hmmm. S--t. You may be right. I did look at the diagram in the manual
but didn't think about the sleeve getting stuck.
Thanks much! Now I just need to visit Harbor Freight and use a press
when no one is looking

Anybody know how to search the whole message archive at one click? I
can't see any way to search the archive other than about 200 or so
messages at a time. Looks like this would take about 400 searches to
check the whole archive. Arrrrrrgh!

I have access to a small press at work, but still you could just pay
somebody locally to press it out, say a auto repair shop/machine shop,
might even try a small muffler/brake shop. Since many vehicles
require pressing bearings in and out on front wheel drive vehicles and
4x4's. No doubt they have a press handy.
Also a large bench vise depending on if the jaws open enough can do
wonders, thats all I used to press the rear brake lever bushing in and
out of the broken stay, used sockets as spacers and such.
Also might try heating the bolt itself with propane torch, then spray
with WD40 before it cools, the rapid cooling effect of the WD40 and
the bolt cooling will suck that WD40 deeper in the area, also when the
bolt heats and cools of course it expands then cools and retracts
which this alone can sometimes break something free.
