howto repair rad shroud to tank pins

Hi All
The moulded pins on the inside of my radiator shrouds that fit inside
the gromets on the gas tank are broken on my A17. One is dangling and
ready to fall off and the other has completely separated from the shroud.
What is the best way to fix this? Can they be reglued, and if so, what
type of glue would work?
It they can't be reglued/plastic welded back on, what other techniques
can be used to fix this?
TIA

Drill a hole in the shroud where the pin used to be and run a nylon
toilet seat bolt through the shroud and the grommet. Tighten the
nylon nut by hand on the backside of the grommet. Looks and works
great.

Thanks Mark. Do you do anything about a spacer between the should and
the gromet? My post broke off flush with the inside of the shroud.

I drilled out a hole, and then with a neoprene expansion nut, a couple os
slotted head brass bolts, a couple of nylon spacers and fender washers.
First I removed the rubber grommets on the tank. The neoprene expansion thing
has a flat washer built into one end. I stuck the expanding end through the
hole in the gas tank leaving the built in washer between the tank and the
shroud. Then I custom cut my nylon spacers to take up the space between the shroud
and neoprene expansion thing. Stuck the brass bolt through a fender washer,
through the shroud, through the nylon spacer and threaded it into the neoprene
expansion nut. As a tighten the bolt, the neoprene unit locks itself into the
hole on in the gas tank, pulling the shrouds into the tank. In some ways it
might be overkill, but it is solid, secure, and not that hard to get off, or put
back on.

You may want to if the shrouds rub on the lower sides of the tank. I
ran weatherstripping between the shrouds and tank instead of a spacer
at the grommet. Either way is fine.

dimension and pitch of rotor puller?

Thanks Mike! I really appreciate the info. Thanks for
the additional heads up info on stripped pullers. If
my friend does have the correct size, I will take that
into consideration before using it.

Charles,
It's 22 x 1.5 be careful, though. There was
recently a
posting here about a stripped puller. Some of the
pullers out there
are soft, and it WILL make you unhappy if your the
lucky guy that
strips one. The KLR rotor is pulled onto a shallow
angle taper on
the crank, by a bolt that has been torqued to 130
ft/lbs - if it was
done right. Some of them come of reasonably easy, some
are #&*!!'s,
and at the last tech day, we had one that you could
remove by
turning the puller in by hand.
All the best,
Mike
