Greetings, I recently dropped my KLR and dented the gas tank pretty bad. I am considering replacing it with an IMS plastic tank. Does anyone have this tank installed on their KLR? Will the stock fuel petcock work off the factory tank? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Kevin Johnson Tulsa, OK

Can you buy them for less than $225.00 anywhere? I'd kind like to get one and put my metal tank away. The sand down here is gonna do a job on the shinny paint. Mark Lewis

When I bought mine, the $225 included shipping which is a very substantial amount. My first IMS tank had a pinhole cast into it, which seeped fuel. I got it exchanged, of course, but the return shipping hurt. IMS did give me a big reduction on a set of their pegs but I don't think it completely balanced out. --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "Mark Lewis" wrote:

IMS makes great product, however their customer service has always sucked. They are one of the few aftermarket companies that have earned a solid reputation for take it or leave customer relations. Case in point. After the accident that killed my first KLR I called them up and asked for a copy of the diagram for connecting the tank to the vapor recovery line. They tech on the phone asked why I needed the diagram. I explained my bike had died in an accident and I was moving the tank to the replacement. AT that point the IMS tech said I would receive no support from IMS for a gas tank that had been through a wreck because the official IMS stance was the tank was no longer serviceable.
