need help! klr lever reinstallation

Wrench turners, mechanics, KLR do-it-yourselfers, lend me your ears!
I lubed the finger bearings on my lever and swingarm, taking quite a
bit of mallet tapping to get that grumble lever out. I should have
realized what that meant on reinstallation.
As my A17 sits on my Craftsman lift, my lever sleeve on the forward
pivot point looks a hair wider than the gap between the frame.
Anyone have any favorite methods to get this thing back in?
I thought about filing a bevel on the sleeve to help it back in
and/or filing it a hair shorter. I'm a disaster as a mechanic so I'm
asking here first.
Does it help to lift the aft end of the bike so it's not resting on
the frame around the foot pegs?
If it matters I already installed the Arrowhead/Fred Hink blue bolts
for the "subframe light" upgrade.

I think loosening the rear most engine mounting bolts might help you. Give
that a try and let us know.

I loosened the rear motor mount bolt, but rather than hammer on the lever, I
spread the frame just a C.H. with a hydraulic bottle jack. Before everyone
flames me for brute force, I just spread it enough for the lever to slip in.

Upgraded from what ?
If Microsnot Internet Exploder, load that and "Export" them to a file
then load them with Netscape and save them.
Not so sure about email addresses, but pretty sure that will do the
same. I use a stand alone mailer so never tried.
(I like Eudora as my mailer, even unpaid with a nag screen its way
better than the VIRI ridden Outhouse Express)
