stop lamp wiring question

I want to splice into the stop lamp wiring so I can attach my GIVI's top case high mounted stop lamps to it. There are 3 wires going into the tail light: red, blue and black. Black must be the ground, so which is of the other 2 is the stop lamp? One of them must be for the running lamp and one for the stop. Any idea? I know it's 50/50 ! Thanks a lot!

An owner's manual or Clymer should answer this. Another trick is to put a sewing needle through the insulation, and then use a voltmeter to find which is which. I've done the very thing you're wanting to do, but I don't recall. Prof Jim knew that one day, you would be posting here, looking for this crucial piece of information. Although we have not heard from Jim in some time, he did entrust us, the keepers of the KLR flame, with safeguarding the last remaining full color copy of the KLR schematic. You can get it here on the Yahoo DSNKLR650 web site ... http://tinyurl.com/wf5a Use the FAQ Luke: www.bigcee.com/klr650faq.html MarkB
