packing tape cause gripster to go flat!!

So I was going to go out for a quick ride in mid December when I
realized my rear Gripster was as flat as a pancake. I put the bike
up on a milk crate and yesterday I took it to my dealer to have it
checked out. The tire only had 1 or 200 kms on it. While my friends
Harley/Yamaha/Honda dealer farted around with the tire, I helped to
unpack a custom Harley. When the mechanic took out the tube, I
thought I saw a long gash. It turns out it was a piece of packing
tape....about 4" long. Somehow, this caused a hole in my tube. The
mechanic simply said "It doesn't belong in there." I am still rather
surprised that this could cause a flat. I left with a new free tube
and a lesson, make sure the inside of the tire, and the tube, are
free of any debris before installing the tire. - Everett
