Went exploring today and came across a long deep crossing. Well it
didn't look that deep but halfway across the bike started spitting
and sputtering and then died. 50 feet of knee deep plus water later
I had pushed it out and then started fine. The hour ride home was
rather cold though.

time to put the t fitting in the carb vent tube
Is not the "T" vent one of the first mods recommended on the KLR ?
I did mine with what I had in the garage, but the material is
available just about anywhere that sells automotive stuff.
In a pinch you could just pull the tube up outta harms way, but its
there for other reasons, aka to drain off excessive fuel (I think) so
up high is not a fix either.

I simply cut off about 4" of mine as soon as I bought it. I've got 4,000
miles on it with lots of them in heavy rain. Sometimes I think that people
just look for problems so they can buy something else.

Not to mention that the 3/4-ball test rig has absolutely no meaning
when it comes to engine oil performance.
