i might be a proud new owner of a 2003 klr
Hi All
I just went out to see a used 2003 with less that 1K
miles on it. In short, I took it for a test ride and
now have a handshake agreement with the PO to
consummate the deal and pick it up Monday at noon.
This PO is the second owner. He bought it to learn how
to ride last October. Needless to say, he rode it once
and fell off it and it has been parked ever since.
There are two things I see wrong, but they don't look
serious.
First, it was hard starting and would not idle well.
I looked at the manual and I can not tell in which
position the choke is on, and in which position it is
off. Can somebody give me a hint. It seemed to run a
little better as I rode it around the block.
Second, it looks like when the PO fell, the bike
landed on the right side. There are minor scratches on
the right radiator shroud, the back of the right
handlebar guard and the top right front fender. In
addition the forks appear to be tweaked; when riding
in a straight line, the top triple clap appears to be
turned about 10 degrees to the right. Can anybody tell
me what the correct procedure is to straighten the
forks out.
TIA

PS. My buddy Arthur and I had a great time at the
Julian Tech session last month. Meeting all the great
people there reaffirmed my intention to take the KLR
plunge.

Hello. The choke lever, when moved to the left is on; push to the throttle
side as it warms up to turn it off.
Loosen the triple clamp bolts, align, and retighten for the forks.
Good luck on the deal!
