Sorry guys (not that anyone cares) but will be leaving this group. Been monitoring this group for a long time. Outstanding group and very informative! I never did get a KLR. Yet anyway. I`m buying a 97 Susuki Bandit 1200 S w/3,000 miles instead. There`s just not a whole lot of trail riding in Iowa. So I decided to buy an everything can do bike for the street and highway. A whole lot more power to play with anyway`s. Got a great deal on it and can`t pass it up. Take care- Ride safely. Kyle in Iowa 97 Bandit 1200s

Hey, thanks for your replies on Parts, I just started looking and I already found a clutch lever! Forbot about it, bent so long. Thanks a bunch for all your help. :) I have a question on Models. I have noticed, at times when KLRs are listed in profiles or else where, that they are sometimes referred to as 'A11' and other 'A' number combos. May someone explain this to me? I've also heard that the KLR models have been changed little since inception. The last major change I heard was in the late 80's or early 90's. I have an 03', would say, a clutch lever for a 1992 model work with mine? Thank again. :) ~Aaron P.S. What is a Tengai model?

The 'A' numbers are model numbers and start with A1 for the first KLR650, a 1987. An A11 is a 1997, etc. There have been very few changes to the models over the years: countershaft sprocket retention, doohickey shaft, and clutch are the only ones that come mind, but it's been a long day. Someone else can fill in. The last round of changes came in 1996. I'll eat the 1992 clutch lever if it doesn't fit your '03. __Arden
