Okay, tough guys, for the aspiring Iron Butt in all of us... How many miles went into your ride? What kind of seat did you use and how did it work? What did you do for fuel or extending the bikes range? What absolutely did NOT work? What did work almost fool proof? What would you do differently? Thanks, MarkB --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, "planetequipment" wrote: > --- In DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com, The Misanthropic Biker > wrote: > > Whoo-hoo! 1640 odometer, don't know yet what the official estimate is.
> What kind of seat did you use and how did it work?
Stock, as to how it worked, um, let me just say, my butt seen better...
> What did you do for fuel or extending the bikes > range?
Nothing: stock tank lasted longer than my bladder anyways.
> What absolutely did NOT work?
Throttle. Too much handle travel puts a lot of strain on your wrist - a lock is a must
> What did work almost fool proof?
Everything else. :-)
> What would you do differently?
Get a damn rainsuit - and even though it was late May, extra warm gear won't hurt. Good luck on your 50 CC adventure! D. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com

Congratulations! I did one of these in June on my KLR, and it was an awesome experience. FWIW, I also used the stock seat, but with a beaded seat cover. I didn't use a throttle lock, but used a throttle rocker, which was more than enough help for me. I used the stock windshield and stock gearing, but switched to a 16T front sprocket the following week. That sprocket worked great through Labrador, however. I must say the Touratech GPS mount for my StreetPilot is the CAT'S ASS, an awesome product. Wore out a Bridgestone Trailwing 18 on all that gravel. Just this past weekend, I did a Great Lakes Gold aboard my Honda ST1100. 2450 miles (3950 kms) in 36 hours and 19 minutes. THAT was a long ride!
