can't get both of my feet flat on the ground.

While at the dealership I sat on a 2003 KLR and I could get both my
feet on the ground, but not flat. I'm 5-10 with a 32-inch inseam.
How big of a deal is this? I have not ridden on the street in a
long time.

I think most folks on this list would say that it is NOT a big deal
when your at 5' 10" tall. I have read many times, and I agree, that
you will be happy with the KLR's stock height, as long as you are not
shorter than 5' 10" tall. (you just made the grade buddy, be happy)
You should read what folks 5' 6" and shorter are doing to their bikes.
I'm 5' 10 1/2" tall, 32 inseam, with the preload cranked up, fresh
rubber on, front forks shoved all the way down in the triple's and
with progressive springs in them. The bike sits just about as high
as you can get one to sit, and on flat level ground, with my butt
scooched up to almost the tank, I can just barely get both feet
planted on the ground. For me, that's perfect.

Its nothing, in fact, the bike will sag a bit after you ride it, maybe
the seat gets softer or springs wear in or something.
5'10~11" 32" inseam about 225lbs and no problems for me, still cant
flat foot it when riding single, but why would I need to ?

I also have a 32 inch inseam and that is enough to let me get the balls of
both on the ground even it I can't get the heels down. From my experience with
even taller dirt bikes, if you can get the balls of both feet on the ground,
without feeling like you are stretching to stand on tip toe, you are doing
pretty good. Its only when the seat height gets about an inch taller that I start
having 'mishaps' while coming to a stop, like how to come to a stop on a knife
edge ridge line when only one foot at a time can reach the ground.

I replaced my stock seat cover with the Dual-Star Gel so my stock seat cover
and foam are for sale.

See if you got any Tack Shacks around that might be willing to staple
on some new leather for ya.
Dual-Star sells a replacement Gel cover for the KLR, unstaple the
orginal and staple on the new cover. Ta Da...
Or maybe a vinyl repair kit.

No biggie. At 5-feet-8 and 145 pounds, I have an occassional "oh
s***" moment offroad with my KLR, but riding on the street is not a
problem. Feet flat is an ideal, not a requirement.
