While its been odd weather out west, I was mostly the beneficiary of it on my trip. I got to cross Nevada and Utah in abnormally cool weather. How many times can you say you crossed the Great Basin in the height of summer having to wear fall riding gear? No once, but twice in the same summer? klr dead battery

I have a 2003 KLR, it has around 16k miles on it. The bike has never given me any problems until now. About 2 weeks ago the bike seemed to be starting a bit weaker every time I started it, No longer exploding to life but just coming on, finally this friday it barely turned over as I tried to leave work, I went to start it saturday morning and nothing, the lights work but all I get is the clicking sound that a dead battery makes trying to turn the starter. I used to ride 5 days a week 40 miles to and from work every day, then I would ride all weekend, with my current job, my commute is ten miles each way and I do little riding on the weekend, as I am enjoying taking my jeep into the mountains, at first I thought this change in rdding habits had caused my battery not to charge enough, but last weekend I went for a 300 mile ride, surely enought to charge the battery fully. The only other change made is that I ride with my high beams on at all times. So what do you think may be killing my battery? Or is 16k miles the life of a motrcycle battery?? I am not looking forward to bumpstarting my bike for work tomorrow !!! Any thoughts???
