kenda 270's
Bought a set of MT-21's a few weeks back and I've decided they are the best
dirt tire I've tried yet. The problem is I can't ride the way I want on the
highway.
Trying to slow down, take it easy in turns etc., doesn't work for me and The
MT-21's
are a tad scary. Soooo, I bought a set of Kenda 270's today. The only sizes
they had
was a 510/17, 325/21. My question is, will the 510 fit? It looks close to
the same
width as the Perrelli. Has anyone ran a tire this size? If so, any problems?
Now I've got to figure what to do with all the tires I now have. Two spare
sets
is overkill.

The only grip I have in the Kenda 270s is that they howel like heck
on the pavement. Enuff so that after a 4 day / 1500 miles run, I
pulled them off and put my Slipsters back on.
Loved them in the dirt and dust and gravel of the hills of southeast
Tennessee though.

I'm also curious about the Kenda 270's. My main question is, do theyproduce any highway noise (whining?). The tread pattern of this tirelooks a little aggressive for street use. Dan

I always wear earplugs but never noticed tire noise.
I can't imagine riding without plugs in. I use Kendas
for commuting so when I want to go off road I'm ready.

***Food for thought***
I thought I had done an appropriate amount of research on the kenda
270's... I was mistaken.... perhaps I got a tire from a bad batch,
it is unknown. I keep my skins properly inflated... I have driven a
Police Motor Unit for 7 years... my life depends on it! The Kenda's,
I thought would be an appropriate tire for use... I was mistaken...
I ended up driving more asphalt then gravel/dirt so they burned off
early... and yes only 2200 miles before they were gone. I was
disappointed. As for my partner's kenda 270 basically flying apart
as we road... how do you explain that one... big chunks/knobs were
flying off his tire as we raod down a secondary hwy... we were both
disappointed. Another buddy of mine only got 3500 km's out of his
kenda trackmaster's (CRF450). So you do the math... choose the tire
you need... weigh the use very carefully and choose wisely. I for on
won't be purchasing them again... and from a number of off-line
messages I am not alone.
