I'm practically on the verge of getting a KLR650 (2003 or 2004) and
the local dealers have none in stock at the moment so I can't go sit
on one. My concern is I'm 6'4" weigh 240lbs. Am I going to be too big
for this bike? I had a honda cbr900rr that was TOO small for me (I
was the same height, but 30 lbs lighter). One of the features of the
KLR that I keep reading about is the height of it.
Are there anybody out there in my size group that has a KLR and
wouldn't mind sharing their experience I'd be much appreciated.
If it helps any, I would spend at least 90% of my riding on pavement.
The idea of being able to hit curbs and go down dirt roads is
appealing to me and I just want something that's really fun to ride.
Thanks in advance,
Karl

Karl, I am 6'3" and weigh 230, and the KLR fits me perfect. I don't
think one inch and 10 lbs will make much of a difference. You will
love the bike...

Karl,
I am also 6'4" and 250lbs. I love the KLR, it is the only bike
I have ridden that doesn't fit me like a minin bike. You'll love it
too.

I am 6'6" and about 210lbs. A good fit - given that most things are specifically designec to be bad fits for tall people.
YOu will be fine. (and happy w/ your choice)

Go put a deposit on it now.....
Thats nothing for a KLR..
I run about 225ish just under six feet, I ride two up with my wife who
claims about 130ish (I think less) and the KLR is fine for riding around.
Touring ? maybe not. Not enough room to move about with my tubby but
in the saddle.
Red is a Honda color.. yack.. no thanks
Get a 2003 if you can, they are all the same except the color.
The more I ride my 2001 the more I love it !!
What other bike can go from 70 Mph highway to a dirty sandy trail/road
and still do 50~60 Mph with a cloud of dust that would keep a
nit-picky Sheriff from even bothering ?
I seen a few times at Enduraid 2003 50 Mph on the speedo on the
trails, I know this sounds crazy, but put 50~60 guys on dual-sports
and give them a trail to ride and it just happens..
Get a KLR, no better way to say it.

Try dripping some oil into the cable, you can disconnect it and drip
light oil from a pumper or 3-in-1 can on the cable so it soaks down
the inside and drips on the motor at the bottom. Thinner is good so
it carries any goo with it, might consider a drip rag at the bottom.
Fred and others sell the clamp on thingy-ma-bob so you can use
pressure from a WD-40 can or whatever floats your barge.
