buying a '98 klr 650

Greetings KLR enthusiasts, I am a new member to the group and I was hoping someone could provide me with some insight into buying a used 1998 KLR 650 with 5K miles, which the owner claims has never been crashed or laid down. I am planning an intercontinental motorcycle adventure and it seems that the KLR 650 is the right tool for the job. Thus my question: In your esteemed opinion(s), what would be a good price for such a bike? Or I should say, if you were in my shoes what would you pay? ALso What would you look for in the bike knowing what you know about your KLRs. Thanks so much for your help, Sam
