Just bought a '96 KLX650R. Love it so far. Have a few questions. The
radiators look like they need to be protected: who makes guards for
this area? Anyone got pix they can email showing this installation.
Aluminum handle bar protectors, who makes a set that fits good and
will protect the expensive looking brake reservoir unit? Any other
protective items I should look at buying, front disk protector, chain
guard, etc.?
Previous owner said that bike was cold natured. He would pull out
choke and kick it 3-4 times and it would fire up, did not twist
throttle while starting. When it is hot it also takes several kicks,
4 or more to get it running. Is this normal? The bike was ridden very
little during the past year, 1-5 hours my estimate, and I have not
emptied out the tank yet and refilled with fresh gas. I plan to put
in some high octane and Sea Foam and try to clean out the carb the
easy way. Any comments or suggestions.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I may try to get it
street legal sometime in the future. Any problems doing this?
Thanks

They supplying and crating it for you? For just pickup/ship that
sounds high to me. If you peruse the ebay listings, many dealers have
$150-$250 for lower 48 shipping.
Another tip, for shipping bulk items, if you do the pickup/dropoff at a
freight depot as opposed to residential, you can save a few
hundred at times.
