hot wired fan

Has anyone ever heard of anyone running a hot wire to the fan so it
runs the whole time the bike is running? When I bought my 2001 A15 I
was still new to the whole KLR650 world and this slipped past me. Now
I see that the previous owner hot wired the fan to remain on. I
realize this will burn the fan out quicker than normal, and am
waiting for response, or suggestions before I switch it back. So, are
there any suggestions?

I've hot wired mine, but it's switched. I would put it back to stock
condition, or put a switch in, running it all the time will definitely
shorten it's life.

Here is my guess: The fan relay went bad on the PO. Instead of
fixing it correctly, they just hot wired the fan and by-passed the
relay.

Hey Guys,
I just posted my dyno runs with the files as DynoRun2. Have a look
and know that your not going to get any huge gains from pipe and
airbox mods. The blue line in the center of the run was stock. The
red line below was with the dynojet kit with a 150 main, airbox
modified, twinair airfilter and a street laser pro duro. Green line
on top is with all the above changes but a 140 main. I wansn't
impressed with the dyno shop. The readings ar are all lower that the
actual HP the bike should be producing. You can still get an idea
of how the HP curve chages. I think you could get some more ponys
out of her with a different pipe, but not much. Although it's only
a couple of HP you can feel it and the important part is the gain
around 3500 rpm that carries to the redline. Worth the cash? No. I
wish I had a nice progressive shock!
