Just got home yesterday afternoon from a nice 3000+ km ride on my new DL-1000. I'm impressed. I think I made the right choice.
Fastest bike I've ever owned. Handles great. Excellent brakes. Comfortable on the long haul. It performed very well on the gravel Trans Labrador Highway. It's no dirt bike but I think the title "Dual-sport" could still apply.
I'm keeping my KLR for now. Don't know how long I can afford three motorcycles but as long as the bankers aren't complaining... what the heck!
For those you wondering what would make a good second bike to go with your KLR, I'd definitely recommend a look at the V-Strom.
THREE bikes in my shed now, ain't life grand?!!
Cheers,
Steve

Holy Moly cornhuskerman.. you sleep with fish ?

The KLR is a blast to ride eh.. It seems as though straight flat
roads..... (ut oh.. your in Cornhusker country) are not anywhere near
as fun as twisty, hilly dirt and gravel roads thou. To me it seems
the bike begs for roads that are dirt/gravel mix, hilly and twisty as
a pigs tail, and when on them, begs to run like scared cat.

A15 (with no real name yet, but thinking "Green Ape" since I have a
Donkey Kong ape zip tied to my handle bars, so I do not have to ride
alone all the time. He likes to ride too, his arms flop around in the
bumpy stuff and nods his head as if enough to say faster faster.
