Ok, I can no longer start my bike with the clutch in. The ONLY way I
can start the bike is in neutral with the clutch out.
I have read some of you bypass all the switches but I would like em
back and in working order. It really sucks to have the bike die in
the middle of an intersection and you have to first find neutral and
THEN have the clutch and then the bike will start.
Anyone know what the problem may be?

Look on the left grip under the end of the clutch lever. You'll see two
small screws that hold a rather small plastic cover on -- not the screws
that hold the grip assembly in place on the bar (which are also present
on the other side), different ones.
Take these out. Take the cover off. Look up at what you've revealed and
inspiration wil suddenly strike and you'll understand how the mysterious
clutch safety switch works (when it does at all). Now move the one part
of the switch back and forth until it seems to be lined up against the
other part correctly, put it back together (you may want to change the
screws, which I think are M3 or M4 x 10mm; on my bike these had caught
a lot of road salt spray and were quite corroded) and you will have a
working clutch switch.
A headlamp can be useful for looking at the thing if you aren't working
outside in bright daylight (I know I seldom am, unfortunately).
I'm sorry I can't really give you a useful _explanation_ of how the
switch works, but believe me, when you see the insides it will all
suddenly be obvious how to adjust it to work again.

This is exactly *why* you disable the clutch switch. Whereas I can see
the argument for keeping the sidestand safety switch, the clutch safety
switch IS DANGEROUS as you found out. Good thing some jackass soccer mom
drinking her mocha grande latte and talking on the cellphone didn't run
your ass over in the intersection.
Please disable your clutch switch. It's the incarnate of pure evil.

I agree, my whole point was that he wanted to keep the safety switches
enabled. In my opinion they should all be disabled but I *can*
understand the argument for keeping the sidestand switch. But in my mind
there is *no* reason for keeping the clutch safety switch. It's more
hazardous with it enabled than it is with it disabled.

These damn safety switches on my new klr have to go. I "predate" these
hazards.
I intend to bipass the neutral and clutch switches. New machine-I'm sure the
dealer won't do it for me.
So, how do I do it?
Thanks.

hand grips and hand protector replacements?

Hello,
My stock handgrips are starting to fall appart at the ends.
I like the stock style (or lack of).
As well, I want to get rid of the stock wind deflectors and put
on hand protectors, etc.
So, I am looking for suggestions on grips and protectors
thanks all,
KGreen
