Sold the Tiger-Finally took delivery of 03 KLR.Should've never left KLRville. But anyway the 03 developed a whistle at about 1500 miles or so that seems to originate from the water pump area.Only happens when engine hot at shutdown. So in other words when I turn the key off and as the engine spins it's last revolution -a whistle sound occurs, not very alarming but disturbing.Mechanical w/pump seal ??Any ideas ?

I'd be more inclined to think it's a lose engine mount or body work that is rattling/rubbing. Mark

It is the pressure escaping from the fuel tank. Next time open the tank and see if it stops. TC

It looked just like that.. ;-) Happen to stumble onto one on ebay for less than the Dual-Star one, so got another KHI part, set of Gel-grips and another useless plastic shovel (skid pan) fairly cheap, did have to take the bushing from my broken one and install it in the used one, is was pretty loose, but that only took a few minutes. Sockets and a vise made a nice press. Dooden
