off-roading again!!!!!!!

Post by Becky & Greg » Wed May 07, 2003 5:21 pm

Any off-road riders/campers in the north/central Texas, southern/central Oklahoma, western/central Arkansas area????? Once again.... in two weeks several of us are heading up Saturday morning, May 14th to S.E. Oklahoma (Clayton) to ride the 3000 square miles of forest & logging roads/trails (probably won't get to "all" the roads) :). It's about a 3 hour drive from Dallas. We're leaving around 8/9am and camping at Clayton Lake State Park Saturday night. If you don't like camping there are several very cheap motels in Clayton. The campgrounds are in the forest & have toilets & showers so you can rinse the dust off, picnic tables, grills & fire rings in the camp sites and the sites are right next to the lake. We won't be riding anything radical so it will just be another "get into the forest & smell the roses" kind of ride. If you would like to see pictures of what the area looks like; First go to (http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/TexasDS/). From the left menu bar go to: "Files/Off Road Areas/Oklahoma/Clayton". The weather is going to be nearly perfect on Saturday and totally perfect on Sunday! :-))) I will be taking my significant other with me so you are also welcome to bring yours. She doesn't ride but sometimes takes the canoe up there and/or fishes or hikes. We will be leaving from Fairview (between Allen & McKinney). If you're interested in going you're welcome to meet here, meet in McKinney or I can give you directions to Clayton Lake State Park and meet there. If you're interested but can't make this one let me know and I'll keep you updated on the next one. Since it is such a beautiful area and so vast we do Clayton as often as possible! Greg in Dallas/Fairview
