body armor?

On the streets, I wear my two-piece Roadcrafter, and I also have an
HG Dakar jacket and some old Vent Tech leather pants. I just got a
pair of the Greywolf riding pants for off-road.
I'd like to ride the KLR off-pavement wearing something a little
lighter than the Stitch or Dakar, but still have protection on. So
what kind of armor do folks wear for knee, elbow, chest/back
protection? Muted colors and lack of decals is a plus.

If it's warm, just a jersey or jean jacket with chest protector and
elbow pads. If it's cooler, a Bohn wax canvas. It has shoulder, elbow
and back pads, plus I can put a chest protector over it.

When it gets pretty warm, here, in Kansas, a motocross jearsy with
chest protector over it, accompanied by elbow pads, motorcross style
pants, combo knee and shin protection, with motorcross boots.

Snug fitting flip flops, tank top, running shorts... now thats
protective clothing...
Bright colored tank top and shorts for the extra added saftey.

Ira...I live in AZ and if you need off or on road
protection in hot or warm weather take a look at this

Ballistic Jersey. I have worn this gear for 3 years
(on/off road) and I'm very pleased with it. Compared
to MX jerseys, t-shirts etc. it will keep you cool and

After seeing Tumu and Devon throw on their chest protector ensembles (chest,
back, shoulder one piece) after breakfast before our first ride together,
I'd say this is the most versatile way to go. Just add elbow/arm pads and
you have fairly complete upper body protection and the ability to ride nude
if you want, or layer whatever you want over it for any temperature or
precipitation. Probably a Cool-Max type underlayer would be most
comfortable.
That said, I have just received a Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket, pants, and
gloves for summer riding..........

OK, so what's the hot setup for the helmet? Do you just put it in
the provided helmet-lock and let it swing, or do you strap it down
tight to the luggage rack? I'm just not sure if one is gay or
something, because I see it both ways.... (OK, so it's Friday, I

Helmet law in Michigan ya know.... eh !
But the helmet has large pink and white bunny ears on it to really
get cages attention.
