do you think a klr250 would be a good bike for a 15 yearold that is
6feet and weighs 140? also how do the 250s handle off road? are they
better than the xt225 or the dr200se thanks for any info about the
klr250

klr250 questions
Sounds like you have my son's twin there! My 15 year old 6 foot 145
lb
son LOVES his 1990 KLR 250. But I would suggest that satisfaction is
going to be based quite a bit on your son's riding skill/experience
level. If he is novice to intermediate the KLR 250 will be great for
him (or if you envision him riding on road with you when he is old
enough). If you are looking for a STRICTLY dirt bike and are
approaching advanced or expert skill level look hard at Honda XR's or
even something bigger than a 250.

klr250 questions
I am thinking about another DS bike. Anyone have a KLR250 and could
share their feelings about this bike? How is it in the woods? Can it
sustain 65/70 mph? I had a KLR650 and loved it on the highway, but
thought it was a little too heavy on the trails. But I haven't ruled
the KLR650 out.

klr250 questions
I've had my 250 for a few months now. Pretty limited
aftermarket market. I just rode into Seattle this am.
on the Interstate. I'm doing a little over 8K rpm
right at 70mph. I could prolly go to 80 down a slight
hill but that'd be getting too close to redline for me
for an extended time. When I dirt-ride, I let my kids
ride the klr since it's lower than my yam-it200 so I
don't have a whole lot of experience dirt-wise. It's
pretty nimble, though. I'm really generally happy with
my 250 - fun for around all over the place. Since I've
had it I've replaced chain/sprockets, cleaned the carb
to get it running (PO let it sit), some cables, etc
and side covers. It starts right up without the choke,
too.My plans when I found this 250 were to get a 650
but saw this'n for $500 so I couldn't resist it. I
just sold one of my street bikes and am saving for a
klr650, which will be my primary commuter bike.
If you're gonna do more than occasional high-speed
riding, I'd get the 650.hth
